We are looking for highly motivated, team players to join our Security Support Officer (SSO) team in Waihopai. This position would suit someone looking to work rostered shifts, including outside normal business hours and on weekends.

You will provide high level protective security services, technical monitoring of infrastructure systems and incident and emergency response.  The role provides 24 hours protective security services via a range of security related functions and systems and, technical support monitoring of plant and infrastructure.

To be successful in the role you will need to be highly professional with a strong customer focus, have a positive ‘can do’ attitude, and the ability to communicate well across a wide range of people.  You will also possess the following qualities:

  • Security industry or equivalent experience
  • A reasonable level of computing skills with the ability to enhance these skills through on the job training
  • A familiarity with security monitoring systems
  • The ability to learn technological skills required to monitor our infrastructure
  • Knowledge of emergency/threat response procedures and policies
  • Sound judgement and able to make good decisions under pressure
  • Self-motivated with the ability to remain focused and vigilant while working on your own

A valid clean full New Zealand Driver’s Licence and a current First Aid certificate are also required.

To be eligible for employment within the NZIC you must have been a NZ citizen for at least 10 years. Alternatively you must hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years.

You must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance. Ordinarily to obtain this level of clearance candidates must have a 15 year checkable background in countries where meaningful and reliable checks can be undertaken. Where requisite checks are unable to be made, the candidate application may not be able to be progressed.
