The Intelligence Community Shared Services (ICSS) is part of the New Zealand Intelligence Community (NZIC).  ICSS are currently recruiting for Security Support Officers (SSO) to join the Security Support team in Waihopai, Blenheim.  The role is a shift position.

We have a position for a permanent Security Support Officer (SSO) and also a casual SSO to join the team. The casual SSO would be perfect for someone who has the flexibility to work casual hours on an on call basis, this could include working occasional shifts outside normal business hours and weekends.

The SSO is responsible for providing high level protective security services, technical monitoring and support services, and incident response.  The role provides 24 hours protective security services via a range of security related functions and systems, technical support monitoring of plant and infrastructure.

To be successful in the role you will need to be highly professional with a strong customer focus, have a positive ‘can do’ attitude, and the ability to communicate well across a wide range of people.  You will also possess the following qualities:

  • Security industry or equivalent experience
  • The ability to learn the technological skills required to monitor critical infrastructure
  • Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Relevant experience in computing and information technology
  • The ability to work with minimal supervision, and to use judgement and make good decisions under pressure
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, and good interpersonal skills to work as part of a team
  • Have a valid and clean full New Zealand Driver’s Licence
  • To be physically fit

A current first aid certificate and NZQA Security Level qualification or similar is desirable.

Salary from $42,489 – $63,733 per annum

To be eligible for employment within the NZIC you must have been a NZ citizen for at least 10 years. Alternatively you must hold NZ Permanent Residence or hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years.

You must be able to obtain and maintain a high level security clearance. Ordinarily to obtain this level of clearance candidates must have a 15 year checkable background in countries where meaningful and reliable checks can be undertaken. Where requisite checks are unable to be made, the candidate application may not be able to be progressed.
