Our organisation is made up of more than 3,000 talented and committed people around New Zealand, from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures.

While we work in different groups and on different things, we all strive every day to make the biggest difference we can for every child, young person and adult student in our education system.

    About our group and team

We are part of the Sector Enablement and Support Group; Ministry teams in national office and around the country working closely with the Early Childhood and Schooling sectors, providers, and communities to provide support, expertise and resources to help children and young people reach their full potential.

School Support provides operational good practice for schools by providing guidance on legislation such as the Health and Safety at Work Act, the Children’s Act, Harmful digital Communications Act (digital safety). We are also involved in emergency incident management and preparedness for schools and risk management guidance for Education Outside the Classroom. We are responsible for Hostel licensing and set school term dates. Our team supports regional staff with administering the Principal Recruitment Allowance.
