About the team

The Integrated Quality Improvement team sits within Corrections Services and are responsible for driving continuous improvement and building the foundations of a learning culture across the various frontline arms of Ara Poutama.  The team are working to deliver positive outcomes for Ara Poutama, the people in our care, and the wider community.  Our role supports all aspects of the Corrections system, driven by Hōkai Rangi, our transformational organisational strategy which runs through to 2024.


The opportunity

Ideally you will already be performing in a Senior Quality Improvement role within another Government agency focussing on improvement of people-based systems, or, come with experience in a similar role within Corrections.  

Success will come from your ability to provide advice, guidance and support regarding achievement of best-practice service quality, operational practices, processes, and standards and assist with the development, implementation promotion and ongoing review of a national framework to define service and practice quality effectiveness and continuous improvement.

You can demonstrate a high level of credibility and collaboration, being innovative and creative and continuously building and maintaining long lasting relationships.  You’ll have excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrate cultural competence and be extremely personable and approachable.

Working in a dynamic team with a highly proactive, supportive and consultative Manager you will provide expert advice and support to the wider business, supporting the organisation to fully embrace and evolve integrated quality improvement.


About you

To be successful in this role you will be someone who has:

  • Committed to providing excellent quality and service
  • Demonstrated understanding of and experience in qualitative and quantitative quality methodologies
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of quality management systems, including design, implementation, evaluation, assurance and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent knowledge of Corrections policies and procedures and the Corrections / Justice environment in New Zealand or the ability to quickly develop this
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with an attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated clear, concise, high-level writing ability.
  • Demonstrated understanding of strategic and organisational alignment and structure
