Public Affairs brings together the functions that assist MPI’s Director-General to meet the expectations of the general public, ministers and key industry stakeholders. The Communications, Engagement and Channels directorate provides strategic communications advice and leadership to the organisation and shares MPI’s story with New Zealand and internationally.
Kōrero mō te tūranga (About the role):
The Senior Adviser – Strategic Events will create, develop, coordinate, manage and deliver a suite of Strategic Events to raise the profile of MPI and its programmes to audiences within New Zealand and internationally.
In these roles there are complexity and challenge, so no two days are the same. You will need to be energetic and adaptable to thrive in this environment. This role requires strategic nous and tactical know how. We think it’s one of the most stimulating and important roles in town.

Mōu – About You:
We’re looking for an individual with a proven track record in event management with excellent planning, organisation, logistics and budget management experience. You will have the ability to think strategically and have a keen eye for detail. The successful candidate will show initiative and be a self-starter whilst also being a creative problem-solver who can deliver on work programmes and work as part of a high performing team.
You will have a relevant tertiary qualification in events and at least three years’ experience at a senior event advisor level. This is a fixed term role through to end of June 2021
