The Environmental & Border Health team sits in the Public Health Group within the Population Health and Prevention Directorate at the Ministry of Health. This team has a work programme that aims to improve public and whânau health through:
The team also provides operational, regulatory and technical advice to District Health Board public health units for the prevention and response to environmental risks and undertakes a sector leadership role in providing operational, regulatory and technical advice to the public health sector.
Among your activities as a Senior Advisor, you will be providing technical and expert advice on environmental health risks and issues, legislation administered by the Ministry of Health and other agencies relating to environmental health, public health responses to civil defence and other emergencies, surveys and investigations for evidence-based analysis.
We are looking for your expertise in public health, environmental planning, environment health environmental science, and/or health protection. In addition, we are seeking your skills to analyse complex information to provide sound advice to different audiences, along with your ability to attend and participate within the National Health Coordination Centre as required.
