About us

The Funding and Programme Delivery group provides support for people who have the greatest housing needs, by funding the delivery of public housing, transitional housing, and housing related support services to tackle homelessness in New Zealand. To do this, they partner with Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities, community and transitional housing providers, developers, social services, councils and other agencies. The group works closely with HUD’s policy groups to help inform advice to the Government on preventing and reducing homelessness, and to ensure policies and interventions are targeted to the places that need it most.

About the role

Reporting to the Manager Housing Support and Services, you will be responsible for working with communities to identify innovative solutions for housing and wrap around services. This will include identifying opportunities, assessing and mitigating the commercial, legislative, and other risks associated with Housing Support and Services’ activities, reviewing the financial feasibility of projects, report writing, responding to Ministerial requests and supporting the set-up of new funding and stakeholder engagement. 

About You

The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills and highly developed written capabilities. With the ability to liaise with people at all levels, you will form effective working relationships across all groups at HUD and with a wide range of external stakeholders. Experience with stakeholder management and proven success working in challenging and dynamic environments will be an advantage. Ideally the successful applicant will also have experience, or an understanding of, the public housing, transitional housing or homelessness support services environment. 

Your background will include:

  • Proven commercial decision-making experience and leadership skills
  • Proven expertise handling crises/issues real time, either for clients or organisations
  • Experience in data management and financial monitoring and an understanding of the procurement lifecycle
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced, results-oriented agency environment
  • Leading projects, from their initiation through to their delivery
  • Professionally mature with sound judgment and the ability to gain immediate credibility  
  • Experience or ability to develop the skills to provide advice to clients, work with suppliers and support the governments multi-agency work programmes
  • Natural talent to connect with people and build partnerships with stakeholders, service providers and Kaupapa Māori services, iwi and hapu groups.
