Senior Advisor Health, Safety and Security (HSS) Policy

 

About the role: 

You don’t need to have in-depth experience working in HSS because we will teach you the nuts and bolts in return for your policy prowess! The most important aspects of this role are the ability to write plain English policies, to build strong networks and relationships and be able to juggle multiple tasks with quick turnarounds.

 

What you will bring to the role:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification (and/or equivalent experience)
  • Experience in health, safety and security in the public sector or a large and complex national organisation (preferable but not essential)
  • Proven experience in assessing the impact of external policy and legislation on operational policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated experience in the analysis, design and implementation of operational policies
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of strategy and business performance to drive the continuous enhancement of operational policies
  • Highly developed policy analysis and design skills and a demonstrated commitment to developing and maintaining specialist skills and knowledge in own area of expertise
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Outstanding relationship building and networking skills
  • The ability to influence and build relationships at all levels internally and externally
  • Experience working in a complex and politically sensitive environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work in collaboration with peers and other key stakeholders to achieve shared outcomes.

About the Team

The Health, Safety and Security (HSS) group supports our managers and staff to put health, safety, security and wellbeing at the heart of everything we do. We lead the development of HSS strategy and operational policy and are responsible for the design, development and deployment of programmes and initiatives that support and strengthen our HSS culture, as well as providing technical expertise and support to frontline teams and health and safety committees.

 

We are a small and close team who support and care for each other and love to have fun.
