About the Role
 
We are looking for two experienced Senior Privacy Advisors to join us in our work to provide fit for purpose, “privacy by design” advice across a diverse range of projects and business areas. 

We have one permanent position available, and one fixed term position until the end of June 2022. 

You’ll be able to come up with practical solutions to help the Ministry to respect the privacy of the people whose information we hold. You’ll work with other Government organisations to ensure information sharing is safe, well managed and effective. You’ll write sound privacy risk assessments that the Ministry needs to inform its decisions. 
 
You will also help your fellow team members:

  • to manage privacy breaches, including meeting the new mandatory notification obligations under the Privacy Act
  • to identify and implement changes that will improve the way in which the Ministry handles personal information 
  • to provide a wide range of other privacy-related advice, including supporting our frontline staff who handle requests for information
  • to provide training and to develop excellent guidance material 

 

Skills and Experience
 
An ideal candidate will offer:

  • an excellent knowledge of the Privacy Act 2020
  • a pragmatic and solution-focused approach to privacy issues
  • excellent communication and relationship management skills
  • an ability to complete privacy risk assessments
  • strong plain language writing skills
  • experience in thinking strategically 
  • an ability to clearly plan, identify and describe work (to enable you to work in an Agile environment)
