The Ministry of Health is the kaitiaki of the health and disability system in New Zealand. We are responsible for providing active stewardship and leadership across the nation’s health and disability system. We are looking for a Senior Advisor to join our team to support the implementation of a range of Māori health improvement programmes. As the Senior Advisor your responsibility will span the Māori Health Service Improvement team and work across the Māori Health Directorate. The Senior Advisor will be responsible for the contract management of services in line with the Ministry of Health’s Procurement Business Rules and Guidelines.
This is a diverse and interesting role where you will directly contribute to developing the capacity and capability of Māori health providers, developing the Māori health workforce, and developing innovative approaches to Māori health delivery; and through working with teams across the Ministry to address health inequities for Māori.
To be successful in the role you will be competent to provide high level quality advice, along with maintaining oversight and direction of key programmes of work. You will lead the effective implementation of performance monitoring and evaluation, and reporting frameworks for key work programmes. Working with others will come naturally to you, you will excel in the area of stakeholder engagement. You’ll also be the person who enjoys sharing their knowledge and expertise with others through coaching and mentoring. A focus on continuous improvement is important to the ministry as we are always trying to enhance and improve the way we operate. It is important that you have experience working in a Māori cultural context and have a good understanding of tikanga and kawa, along with a health sector background.
