The Ministry of Social Development (MSD) is the lead agency for the social sector. MSD provides policy advice, and delivers social services and assistance to young people, working age people, older people, and families, whānau and communities. We work directly with New Zealanders of all ages to improve their social wellbeing.
About our Team
We are a busy team who assist our Ministers and Chief Executive to respond to public interest in the Ministry’s activities. Our work includes providing advice in response to Official Information Act requests, Parliamentary and select committee questions.
We are highly motivated and focused on providing quality and timely service to all of our stakeholders – Ministers, ministry staff, media and the general public.
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Advisor to join our Official and Parliamentary Information (OPI) team. You will manage the workflow and track responses to and critiques of Ministerial, select committee requests, parliamentary questions and Official Information Act Requests in accordance with Ministry standards.
You will lead quality assurance processes, monitoring, reporting and training to identify the need for, and lead process improvement and systems within the team. A key focus of the role will be to mentor team members to build and maintain quality standards.
Skills and Experience
You will need great relationship management skills and be able to build a strong network of contacts throughout the Ministry. You will enjoy working with complex issues and be able to explain your thinking clearly in conversations and in writing.
You will require a high level of influence and interpersonal skill to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, and give sound advice to team members on effective strategies to improve and maintain quality standards.
