The new Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is the Government’s lead advisor on housing and urban development and will deliver the Government’s programme to address homelessness, increase public and private housing supply, make existing homes warmer and healthier, make housing affordable for people to rent and buy, and lead quality urban development strategies to create thriving communities.

About the role

Working within the newly established Insights, Monitoring and Performance branch, the Senior Advisor Monitoring will work closely with others to manage the monitoring process for one or more of the entities we monitor and provide sound advice to Ministers. It is an opportunity to bring your understanding of public sector processes and excellent relationship management to support Ministers and add value to improve outcomes for all New Zealanders.

About you

You will be an experienced and respected Senior Advisor with a proven track record of delivery in the public sector.  You will be a confident communicator able to synthesise a range of information from many sources into insightful, relevant and accurate reviews of performance. You will be someone who can think strategically to make connections and build relationships to work collaboratively. A team player, you will be keen to contribute to building a culture of collaboration and innovation.

Your experience will include:

  • Ability to quickly build rapport and credibility with internal and external stakeholders and maintain strong relationships
  • Ability to quickly assimilate new information or areas of work and come to an understanding of unfamiliar and complex issues
  • Ability to provide clear and concise advice to Ministers
  • A strong understanding of the processes that underpin the operations of the public-sector environment.
