The Ministry for Pacific Peoples is the principal advisor on policies and interventions that improve outcomes for Pacific Peoples. The position of Senior Advisor, People and Culture exists to provide quality HR advice and support to people managers, and to coordinate core human resources operational policies, initiatives and processes across the Ministry. You will work closely with the Director, People and Culture providing specialist advice and expertise to support the delivery of the People and Culture programme across the Ministry.

The role is diverse, and we are looking for a solid HR all-rounder. You will step into this role with strong experience in HR and in an HR generalist role with the ability to be adaptable and hit the ground running.

About you

You will be an innovator and excellent at liaising with people and have a helpful, kind, caring approach that would be necessary to make this job work. You must be good with details, ideally but not necessarily you will have the ability to speak a Pacific language. You will have some knowledge of and empathy for the Ministry’s journey and values and Pacific culture.

  • You will have a qualification in Human Resources, Management or a related field
  • A minimum of three years in a Senior OD position or HR Business Partner role
  • Proven skills in delivering specialist OD and HR advice, coaching and support to people manager
  • Experience working in a state services environment
  • Be adaptable and a great multi-tasker and someone looking for the next move in a values-based organisation
  • Great communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to a wide range of people
  • A flexible and adaptable working style, including a positive attitude and willingness to work individually and as a team player
