Partnering for Outcomes works with and supports partners across New Zealand, including iwi and NGOs, to provide and build strong services for children and their whānau. 



About the role:
The Senior Advisor, Planning role will be responsible for the development of a national investment plan for Partnering for Outcomes, ensuring that strategic planning for community funding aligns with the Ministry’s key outcomes and strategic investment framework. The Senior Advisor will also support regional planning activities.
Key tasks for this role will be; collating and analysing information to inform investment planning, assist with the development of planning and contracting processes; development and implementation of purchasing and costing models, as well as support and advice; assisting in problem solving to ensure that results are consistent with processes and desired outcomes.


Skills and experience:
You will be an experienced Advisor with a broad understanding of commissioning and market building and the social development policy issues. With the following skills and experiences:

  • A strong Māori and Pacifica focus
  • Understanding of a commissioning process, specifically cost modelling and its implementation on the ground. (no financial qualifications required)
  • Strong analytical skills in approaching complex scenarios with the ability to problem solve and provide direction. 
  • Attention to detail
  • Clear and effective communication when describing complex scenarios
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and change using a strengths based approach
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain networks and relationships, both internally and externally
  • A keenness to contribute to the team environment and provide mentoring to other advisors within the team
  • A moderate to strong ability to use excel
