About our Team

The Safe, Strong Families and Communities (SSFC) group sits within the Community, Partnerships and Programmes business unit at MSD.  The current focus of the SSFC group involves MSD’s response to Sexual Violence, Family Violence and Building Financial Capability across New Zealand.

In our work, we make a real and positive difference for communities, through the services we invest in and the support we give.

About the Role

In this role, you will be responsible for developing, improving and implementing a range of social services for New Zealanders. The core component of this role is leading work within the Sexual Violence work programme.

This is a fast paced role in an achievement focused workplace. We are looking for a broad set of skills within the Senior Advisor role. Functions within this role include:

• providing intellectual subject matter expertise and leadership in development of services to vulnerable adults and their families and whānau

• developing and implementing services or programmes across the Sexual Violence work programme

• advising senior management and providing high-level support

• promoting continuous improvement of services and processes.

You will also be expected to lead and contribute to work on both internal and cross government priorities.

Skills and Experience

We are seeking positive individuals, with relevant prior experience in community and social services.

Experience in the development, implementation and delivery of social services or programmes is desirable, as well as showing resilience when working with sensitive issues.

You will need excellent relationship management skills and be able to demonstrate how you have contributed to making your working environments great places to work.  You will also be able to demonstrate your ability to develop practical solutions for complex problems with a focus on getting the job done!

A significant part of your role will be building relationships with key government stakeholders, internal ministry staff and the NGO sector.  This means you are an effective communicator in addition to an excellent relationship manager with a collaborative work ethic and values that align to MSD’s priorities.

If this sounds like you, and you’re ready to either take a step up, or take on the next set of challenges in your career, then we want to hear from you!
