We have a unique opportunity for an experienced Senior Security Advisor to join the Royal Commission at this pivotal time. You will promote a safe and sustainable work environment that drives security capability improvements across the Commission. You will be tasked with providing expert risk and security advice to a range of internal and external stakeholders, ensuring our people are kept safe.

In addition, you will:

  • develop, review and maintain Royal Commission policies and procedures that comply with the mandatory and regulatory requirements
  • provide specialist security support, assistance and advice on a day to day basis in all areas
  • lead the development and maintenance of a strong and sustainable safety and security culture
  • provide accurate, relevant, objective, useful and timely security advice.

This role will provide you with interesting and varied work across a diverse range of areas and stakeholders It’s a challenging, yet incredibly rewarding role where you can work in the biggest Commission of its kind in New Zealand.

About you:

  • You will be a proven security specialist, ideally with experience in risk and assurance
  • Have a strong understanding of government security best practices, policies, strategies and initiatives
  • Sound judgement and decision-making skills, with a ‘hands on’, problem solving approach, able to remain calm under pressure and take control of incidents
  • Proven experience as a senior protective security practitioner and a solid understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015
  • Demonstrable experience in identifying threats, risks and security controls that are efficient and effective
  • Relevant Security qualification
  • Willingness to travel nationally to conduct security tasks as required

About us

The Royal Commission of Inquiry into Abuse in Care was established in February 2018. Over the next four years, the Inquiry will investigate the abuse and neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults who were in the care of State and faith-based institutions in New Zealand between 1950 and 1999 and examine ways to stop further abuse.

The Royal Commission is committed to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the Māori Partnership team bring a kaupapa, tikanga and te reo Māori focus to the development of the Inquiry work programme.
