Senior Analysts, Child Poverty Unit

We have two Senior Analyst roles to fill and are looking for dedicated individuals who will contribute their unique abilities and experience to this important work. One role will be for a permanent position and the other a fixed term position for six-months to cover parental leave. For the fixed term position we will consider secondees from other agencies.
About the Unit
The Government wants New Zealand to be the best place in the world to be a child and has initiated via legislation the development of a cross-government work programme to give effect to this priority.
The Child Poverty Unit (CPU) sits within the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC). It supports the Minister for Child Poverty Reduction on the implementation of the Child Poverty Reduction Act 2018, working across government on policies with a focus on reducing child poverty. The CPU works closely with the Child Wellbeing Unit on the child and youth wellbeing strategy.
About the Role
This role will develop and deliver high-quality policy advice and support to influence government decisions that will focus on reducing child poverty and improving child wellbeing.
The Senior Analyst is also expected to routinely display both people and intellectual leadership.

Skills and Experience
This role will require a confident Senior Analyst with experience in developing and providing policy advice in related areas, including applying and adapting analytical frameworks and tools. You will need to hit the ground running and be comfortable working independently using good judgment. You will have strong written and verbal skills with the ability to engage with different sectors and communicate complex issues and concepts clearly, succinctly and with influence.
