Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the Role

We are looking for a motivated Business Analyst to join us in the Joint Border Analytics Team. The team is based in Auckland city and consists of staff from Ministry for Primary Industries, New Zealand Customs Service, and the Ministry for Business Innovation and Employment. This is a unique opportunity that will allow you to work alongside Data Modelling Analysts from all three agencies to develop projects that will make the border of the future more effective in identifying and managing risk.

In this role you will:

  • Develop, define and document business processes
  • Assist with planning a work programme
  • Work on complex projects in a Business Analyst capacity
  • Embed stakeholder engagement activities
  • Mentor and support team members

 

Mōu – About You

Bring your tertiary qualification in business or economics along with your attention to detail and your enjoyment of working in a fast moving, busy environment where your actions will have a real impact on how we shape the border of the future. 

  • Understanding of the public sector and the machinery of government. 
  • Experience working across a range of organisations/industries.
  • Experience involving provision of advice, analysis, internal consultation and engagement, and interaction with senior decision makers.
  • Sound understanding of how a business works, its core components, and how these fit together to efficiently and effectively deliver its core products or services to meet customers/stakeholders requirements
  • Experience in requirements identification, gathering and assessment.
  • Experience in solution assessment and validation to assess and validate any recommended changes or solutions.
  • Understand and have experience in analytical thinking and problem solving
  • Be able to communicate effectively across all organisational levels, and with external vendors, stakeholders and customers.

Salary range for this role is $91,000 to $107,000 depending on skills and experience

  • most preferably a NZ citizen, who has resided continuously in NZ for at least the last five (5) years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last five (5) years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.
