The purpose of the role

You will be responsible for enabling and assisting our stakeholders to clarify, develop and implement their business needs and objectives. You will work collaboratively with business and external suppliers to identify feasible, cost-effective enterprise solutions that contribute to our strategic direction. To do this, you will need to lead, coach and support other business analysts, and actively contribute to the improvement of business analysis and EPO processes and practices. 

You will work in the Enterprise Portfolio Office, with a great cohort of Project Managers, Business Analysts and Change Managers who are passionate about what they do and happy to support you.

Person specifications

Working closely with the business and technology sides of the organisation, you will be required to build positive and productive relationships.  You will be highly organised, self -managing, able to work independently and as part of a cross functional team.   As a Senior Business Analyst, you will have at least 5 years of experience to draw on.  You will be familiar with all the and techniques of your discipline and be comfortable learning in a high paced environment.    Stakeholder engagement will be a focus.

To achieve great outcomes the following attributes are required: 

  • Strong communication, documentation and influencing skills.
  • Mentoring and coaching.
  • Experience planning, leading and facilitating workshops to engage with end users.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in process mapping, business improvement and working with data.
  • Knowledge of agile delivery methodologies.
  • Knowledge/familiarity or a commitment to learn/understand Te Ao Maori, including ensuring opportunities at Stats NZ reach the Maori community.
