Funding and Programme Delivery is a key group within the new Ministry of Housing and Urban Development. We fund and partner initiatives to deliver more permanent public housing and affordable rental supply. About the roles

Due to internal growth, we have two key roles within our Housing Supply team for Senior Commercial Advisors. The roles will be focused on supporting this team to procure net new public housing places to meet housing demand across New Zealand.

The first role will be based in Wellington and have a project deliverability focus, where you will be responsible for evaluating funding applications for project feasibility and analysing deliverability information to capture key risks, monitoring and reporting on high profile risk to senior management. You will also provide support to key stakeholders to ensure all Government processes and guidelines are clear and enable submission of high-quality funding proposals. 

The second role will be based in Auckland and have a focus on evaluating funding applications for “fit for purpose,” analysing architectural and landscaping plans and ensuring that the proposed projects produce the best possible outcomes for their target tenants.  You will also provide support to key stakeholders to ensure all Government processes and guidelines are clear and enable submission of high quality funding proposals. 

About You

The successful candidates will have at least 8 years’ experience in property and/or project management, preferably both residential and commercial, or in planning/urban design or surveying. You’ll have excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders. You’ll be proactive, looking for ways to support the wider team and be comfortable navigating your way through an ambiguous environment.

Your background will include:

  • Familiarity with the legal and regulatory framework supporting land ownership and property development
  • Sound understanding of differing Lease documentation, legal vocabulary and the Residential Tenancies Act
  • Experience evaluating architectural and landscaping plans
  • Knowledge of construction methodologies and recent innovations in the residential construction industry
  • Finance, credit control, appraisal, planning or surveying experience would be advantageous
  • Experience providing high quality, detailed analysis and advice
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced, results-oriented agency environment
  • Proven decision-making experience and leadership skills
  • Fully computer literate, especially with all Microsoft Office programmes
  • Professionally mature with sound judgment and the ability to gain immediate credibility  
  • Natural talent to connect with people and build rapport.
