Our Senior Commercial Managers are newly created roles within the Commercial Services Team.  We are recruiting for two positions, which will develop commercial strategies, provide expert procurement and commercial services and advice equipping the Government Communications Security Bureau and New Zealand Security Intelligence Service to achieve their respective missions.    

We let and manage hundreds of contracts, and work closely with industry to procure goods and services from the everyday to the never seen before. No two days are the same for our Commercial Services team. One day you might be building supplier relationships, the next negotiating the best deal for innovative technology.  

In this role you will manage the commercial relationships and contracts to ensure the right goods and services are procured at the right time and at the right price.  This includes the establishment, management and review of commercial contracts, taking a leading role in the operational management of supplier/vendor relationships and driving continuous improvement across a broad portfolio of contracts. 

To be successful in this role you will be able to work comfortably across the entire procurement life cycle and have experience in a wide range of procurement categories. You will also have the following - 

  • Strong commercial management and procurement experience ideally with an understanding of government procurement
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Skilled in business process improvement practices
  • Proven ability and resilience to thrive within a fast paced, ever changing landscape

To be eligible for employment within the NZIC you must have been a NZ citizen for at least 10 years. Alternatively you must hold NZ Permanent Residence or hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years.
