The role | Mō te tūnga
We re seeking an inquisitive and engaged individual keen to use their expertise and experience to drive development and transformation in the Integrated Data (ID) business unit and beyond. The ID Unit is responsible for producing the Integrated Data Infrastructure and the Longitudinal Business Database, important linked-data products that are used across government and academia to gain valuable insights about New Zealander s lives. The Development team is focussed on driving improvements and making things happen we are action-oriented and work with the ID Unit and beyond to make our services better for customers.
You will provide thought leadership in your design field within Stats NZ and be seen outside of the organisation as a source of credible, expert advice. You will to contribute to development of best practice and be willing to challenge the status quo. You will contribute to the leadership of the unit, identifying emerging capability requirements and then champion or provide support for upskilling. We are seeking someone who works to understand the needs of our customers and is passionate about the services we deliver.
We require someone who is flexible and can respond to changing needs as work evolves. We are seeking someone who has existing technical skills (e.g. R, Python and/or SQL), can pick up new skills quickly, and can lead pieces of work. Most of all we are looking for a great team fit – someone who works hard and enjoys what they do.

Salary range: $88,327-$103,914 depending on the skills and experience of the successful candidate.
