About our group
The Web and Applications Services team provides Business Analysis, Development, and Testing for priority business applications. We ensure that the applications used throughout the ministry (and increasingly by many in the wider Education Sector) are available when they are needed, are reliable and are of high quality. We provide resources, including staff, for projects. Once a project is delivered the Web and Applications Services team is responsible for supporting it.
About the role
The role of the Senior Developer is to ensure that the applications they build and support are efficient, effective and provide value to the business. They also provide technical expertise and advice during the design and development of applications. This role will make a valuable contribution to the strategic direction of the business units within the Ministry of Education.
To be successful in this role we will need you to have a comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft development environments (e.g. Visual Studio, SQL Server Management Studio, Data Tools, Azure DevOps)
Successful experience implementing web based development technologies, e.g. ASP.NET, MVC and WebAPI.
A comprehensive knowledge of SQL Server and experience developing stored procedures and database design.
An awareness of a range of technologies and their practical applications in supporting business requirements e.g. SSIS, SSRS and Azure.
Proven ability to work in, and provide technical leadership to a team, and to communicate at both a general business level and technical level.
Some experience with agile software development methodologies, production support and test driven development would be great.
Previous experience developing financial applications would be desirable
