  • Summary:
  • Are you ready to be stretched and go beyond being the ‘go’ to operational person?
  • Are you interested in tackling big issues and working at a strategic level?

This is not your everyday Role!  It could be the step up that you have been waiting for.

This is a fast paced and satisfying role where you will have the opportunity to make your mark. Your advice will directly influence decisions on bargaining outcomes, policy directions and issue resolution processes.

As stewards of the health workforce we work in partnership across the health system to ensure that there is a diverse workforce pipeline that will provide the health workforce New Zealand needs now and in the future; and that the employment environment is both sustainable and adaptable to new and evolving models of care.

You will get to work with District Health Boards, central agencies, health sector unions and senior Ministry of Health staff across a wide range of gritty issues like pay equity, Holidays Act remediation and collective bargaining.

To be successful your skill set will include:

  • excellence in writing, you can turn complexity into easily digestible information and paint the reader a simple picture
  • expertise in relationship building, you can build and maintain professional relationships across a wide variety of organisations
  • resilience, you can shake it off, sometimes more than once

Ideally you will have either a tertiary qualifciation or relevant experience, preferably in employment relations or an equally challenging and complex field.  Knowing your way around a collective agreement, having an understanding of how bargaining works and some experience working in the Public Sector would also be helpful.

As a kaitiaki of our health and disability system, the Ministry of Health is here to ensure all New Zealanders are being well served – and that work is incredibly rewarding.  If you’re keen to put your skills to use for the wellbeing of all New Zealanders, this role is a great opportunity for some one who is also ready to take that next step in building a successful career.
