  • Mō tō mātou rōpū – About our team: 

    The Sector Engagement and Implementation team is responsible for the delivery of effective, high-quality engagement with the health sector on workforce development, and ensuring the successful implementation of strategic Health Workforce initiatives.

    The Health Workforce directorate creates and supports a clear strategy and future pathway for the health workforce in New Zealand. It has three core functions:

  • Responsibility for whole of health system strategic workforce leadership and stewardship.
  • Working in partnership across the system to enable the development and implementation of strategic workforce priorities.
  • Oversight of employment and industrial relations matters across the sector.
  • Te whainga poto o tēnei tūranga – What is the purpose of this position?: 

    To support the Directorate’s strategic engagement with stakeholders, ensure the Directorate and Ministry understands their challenges and ideas, and provide regular, high-quality Health Workforce information to the sector.

    You will work with the Directorate to develop effective communication and engagement strategies and plans, working proactively to identify and support the Directorate’s internal and external engagement needs. You’ll make sure there is regular and effective two-way stakeholder communications, using a diverse range of channels. A key focus of the role will be ensuring our systems and processes support meaningful, successful engagement and are kept up to date.

    Ngā Pūkenga me ngā Wheako – Skills & Experience: 

    You’ll have significant experience supporting stakeholder engagement within a sector with complex stakeholder interests, and a relevant communications qualifications and/or experience. Experience in the health and/or public sector would be an advantage.

    Your strong interpersonal and influencing skills are matched by your excellent written and verbal communication ability. Previous experience leading the development and implementation of the systems and processes underpinning effective engagement will help you be successful in this role.

    You have sound judgement and naturally take initiative, and you can adapt quickly to changes around you. You’re comfortable providing strategic advice as well as working in the detail.
