We are on the hunt for an intermediate level accountant to join us as the lead of our small finance team supporting the day-to-day financial accounting function.  The role will ensure that we are being as effective and efficient as possible, systems and processes are fit for purpose and that we are meeting our financial KPI’s.

You will work with our external accountants to ensure all the information is available for reporting purposes and that our financial models are kept up to date.  A key aspect of the role is to ensure the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) is provided the right advice, including understanding our financial position against budget and forecasts.

This is an opportunity for an experienced accountant to step up to staff management with a small team who provide the day-to-day financial processing and payroll, or for someone looking to step back from a large or complex organisation. It is an exciting time for us as we move to mandatory registration of social workers and our organisation is growing and adapting to the new environment.

Key requirements of the role:

  • Chartered Accountant (or equivalent) with minimum of 3 years post qualified experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to be share ideas simply and confidently
  • Understanding of the machinery of government processes
  • Excellent analytical & problem-solving skills
  • Strong decision making, analysis and relationship building skills.
  • Previous experience with a variety of systems, ideally Xero and advanced MS Excel skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and te ao Māori perspectives, as these relate to the social services sector
