The remit of the role will be: Establish a Wellington / Lower North Island geotechnics presence and grow the team over time (with the support of the other geotechnical teams in Christchurch, Auckland and Tauranga). Utilise your geotechnical experience and expertise to undertake, manage and review geotechnical projects including working with the rest of the Geotechnical team on work throughout NZ. Solve Wellington’s unique geotechnical challenges for clients including slopes, seismic issues, and variable foundation conditions. Business development for engineering geology/geotechnical engineering opportunities with existing and new clients – generate your own client relationships. Supervision of contracts and construction works. About You Bachelor’s Degree, preferably with Master’s degree from a recognised leading university. At least 15 years post graduate geotechnical or engineering geology experience. Understanding of and track record in the Wellington / Lower North Island area. Strong technical ability including slope stability hazard assessment and stabilisation design, ground improvement assessment and design, geotechnical design of building foundations and retaining structures. Conversant with geotechnical software such as GeoStudio, Slide, Plaxis, Wallap or equivalent. Experience of bids and tenders / business development. CPEng or PEngGeol registration. Exceptional communicator and ability to building lasting client relationships. Candidates for this position will need to be based in and hold the right to work in New Zealand.
