We have a short-term vacancy for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to help keep our work programme moving while our permanent staff member is on secondment.

Our Building Engineering team are supporting the regulatory reform by changing the way we review and set technical requirements in the Building Code. We work to ensure we can deliver updates to the Building Code twice a year.
What we do
The Building System Performance branch, within MBIE, is the central regulator and steward of New Zealand’s building and construction system. It sets the strategic direction for the building system as well as providing policy and technical advice on rules, regulations and legislation for the building system to meet New Zealand’s current and future needs.
A key priority for the branch in the coming year is improving the building regulatory system to be more user-centric. This work is crucial in providing New Zealand with safe and durable buildings by delivering a confident and efficient regulatory system to enhance the performance of the construction sector and balance accountabilities.
