Here at Inland Revenue (IR) we are well advanced into a multi-year business transformation which will modernise our entire operation. As a customer-centric organisation, IR’s goal is to give customers the best possible experience when using the NZ tax system. In order to support our transforming organisation, we are looking for an experienced technical specialist to join the Heritage Services team which sits within the Information Technology & Change (IT&C) group.

About the role

The Heritage Services function ensures the Heritage Technology Services continue to be delivered effectively while supporting or delivering transition activities to new services and decommissioning activities with Heritage Services.

As the Senior IT Consultant, you will provide advanced technical support for a range of Network solutions including:

  • Heritage Core Load Balancer F5 and Alteons
  • Postfix Network Services
  • NTP Time sync Services
  • One.Govt Inter-Agency Services
  • Vodafone Data Centre Core
  • Vodafone Internet Connectivity
  • Vodafone Managed Firewall aaS (Firewalls)

You will also be a key source of expert advice to your own and other senior managers across the organisation.

You will mentor others in your team and demonstrate strong relationship management and networking skills alongside your excellent technical experience. You will be a recognised ‘go-to’ resource by business, projects, partners and colleagues within our domain.

The main focus of this role is to ensure the IRD LAN/WAN/Wifi provides the stability, performance and security required by IRD staff and its customers. A deep understanding and experience in the management of enterprise level networks and associated technologies is required.

What you’ll need to bring to the role

  • Experience providing technical advice and input into services, working collaboratively with other Technical Specialists to ensure integration integrity between services
  • Monitoring your service partners, ensuring key tasks are completed daily including; service monitoring, network administration, patching and upgrades
  • Experience in management of incidents and problems and performing root cause analysis
  • Developing and enhancing partner and vendor relationships, dealing with complex issues and making quality decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working within an ITIL aligned service management framework
