About the Job

You will be a confident operator with the ability to provide sound expert legal advice and advocacy that is proactive and adaptable in a fast-changing environment. Building and maintaining strong connections within our legal team and the wider Ministry will be critical to your success in this role.

About the team

You may have guessed already that this team is a senior lawyers dream come true and they would like to think you will get excited about working with them. The team is made up of some well-established senior lawyers, lawyers and enthusiastic graduates who are hungry to grow and learn from you.

Your growth and development will be supported by the Manager of the team through coaching/mentoring and an environment that will enable you to drive your own success.  What we need from you: 

  • Highly experienced lawyer with some solid years of experience behind you (ideally at least 7)
  • Legal experience within Government and with Social Security legislation would be an advantage but not necessary for the right person
  • Proven track record of providing high quality legal advice and advocacy is a must
  • An ability to lead and work across a range of legal areas   
  • Strong influencer and enabler with team members and clients
  • An ability to collaborate and build strong enduring relationships on multiple levels  
  • A genuine commitment to supporting diversity and inclusion in the workplace
