What you will do

The Senior Learning & Development Advisor is responsible for supporting the research, design, development, delivery and evaluation of the components of the NZDF Leadership Development System, the Leadership Framework and all associated leadership training management plans. The Senior Learning & Development Advisor works closely with the Research Officer and Design Officer to provide advice to the Director, Programme Principals and single Service leadership centres (Navy, Army and Air Force) on the latest leadership development theories and practices.
 
You’ll liaise with NZDF stakeholders within Organisational Development and Human Resources functional areas and also with external agencies, including the State Services’ Leadership Development Centre (LDC) to build and maintain a network for the sharing of leadership development theories and practices.  This role is a key contributor to the continued growth of NZDF’s leadership capability and enabling the NZDF to achieve Government outputs and be a ‘Force for NZ’.

Please note: this is a fixed term opportunity until December 2021.
 
What we need

You will be a subject matter expert (SME) on leadership theory, development and delivery.
 
Strong experience in analysing, designing and developing, and delivering leadership development programmes within medium to large organisations, with a demonstrable knowledge of contemporary leadership theory and practice at all organisational levels.
 
You’ll be experienced in employing adult learning theories and techniques in order to improve and redesign existing programmes, and will have an understanding / experience of coaching and facilitating across a range of levels and be capable of influencing and relating to a broad cross section of individuals. 
 
Your well-developed written and verbal communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain relationships is crucial to your success in this role. 
 
You’ll also have a relevant tertiary qualification and ideally be accredited to administer and debrief psychometric testing and 360 tools (e.g. Hogan, LVI).

  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last five years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.
