About us | Ko wai mātou
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency partners with others to deliver safe, easy and connected journeys that help improve the lives of New Zealanders and help our businesses thrive. Our work at Waka Kotahi connects people and communities, keeps people safe and well, and supports New Zealand’s prosperity. Our success depends on the people who choose to make this a great place to work and make a difference for New Zealand.
The Engagement and Partnerships Group supports the success of Waka Kotahi by strengthening relationships with our central and local government partners, communities and industry. We do this by telling great stories about the work Waka Kotahi does. Our exciting and diverse work spans a range of partners and stakeholders – we support Ministers, coordinate collaboration across central government, lead constant dialogue with our local government partners, and engage directly with the New Zealand public.
The opportunity | Te whiwhinga mahi
At Waka Kotahi, safety is our top priority. It is unacceptable for anyone to be killed or seriously injured while travelling or working on the land transport system.
As our Senior Manager, Education and Advertising, you will help to promote improved safety outcomes by leading a team that designs and delivers education and advertising campaigns that influence and incentivise desired actions and behaviours in New Zealand’s land transport system.
Our education and advertising programme is funded by the National Land Transport Fund. For the current three-year period from July 2018 – June 2021, the programme has $89.9 million in funding. The programme is aligned to priority actions in the Government’s Road to Zero action plan. It also supports the regulatory function of Waka Kotahi and NZ Police enforcement.
Our education and advertising team is the business owner of the guidance for best practice road safety advertising and road safety education in schools and in the community. This guidance sets the benchmark for Approved Organisation eligibility for road safety promotion funding administered via the National Land Transport Programme.
We work in conjunction with other parts of Waka Kotahi and the road safety sector to coordinate activity and to support key safety messages. The programme uses a combination of qualitative research, customer insights and service design principles to deliver behaviour change programmes.
