The Safety, Health and Environment (SH&E) Group exists to radically improve road safety, workplace health and safety and the environmental performance of the New Zealand land transport system.

The opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi

Reporting to the General Manager, Safety, Health and Environment, as our Senior Manager People and Process Safety role you will be responsible for providing strategic people safety and process leadership and direction across the Agency’s accountabilities.

In this fast paced and strategically focused role, you will contribute to the strategic planning and direction of all of our business groups as you work to embed, across the Agency, a system and process that focuses on our duty of care for our people and enhancing our business culture of care. This role will also see you coaching leadership in health and safety and developing enablers to provide support to executive and leadership groups. The role also focuses on processes that will enable innovation and practical approach to how Safety & Health can be further elevated to become more incorporated into our organisational values.

We are a diverse team so it is essential that you are a people-centric person with sound interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong rapport and positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. Your experience in leading a team and influencing and negotiating with senior and executive level stakeholders is essential. You will need to bring a focus on collaboration, customer focus and well-honed curiosity to the Agency.

  • A strong customer-focus
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Tertiary Health and Safety qualification (minimum IOSH) Diploma preferably at a post-graduate level
