The group supports the sector to build a workforce that has the capability and capacity to deliver high-quality practice and can support innovation across the system to lift student achievement.Within Education Workforce, the Strategic Design team is focused on setting the direction for the group through the development and implementation of long-term workforce strategies.About this roleThis is a unique opportunity to work closely with the Associate Deputy Secretary to lead the design and development of Education’s short, medium, and long-term Education Workforce work programme with the goal of supporting a high-performing education system. The role will be key in ensuring the delivery of key operational policy projects that deliver on the strategic vision, most importantly, leading the policy coordination of the Ministry’s bargaining strategyThe role has significant breadth and scope and the Senior Manager – Strategic Design will be responsible for the management of a key team that delivers strategic design shaping of Education Workforce programmes as well as ensuring strategic alignment between the strategies and priorities of Education Workforce group and other wider Ministry strategies and programmes. Additionally, with internal and external engagement, the Senior Manager will lead the design and development of policy frameworks, ensuring oversight and guardianship of various strategy processes, establishing strong working relationships across key government agencies and management of cross-government programmes, and effectively representing the Ministry at a senior official level and with Ministers, Cabinet and Select Committees.Finally, drawing on research and analysis of workforce issues and trends, you will work with external stakeholders and other Ministry departments to develop long-term Education Workforce strategy and policy in the interests of building a workforce that allows New Zealand students to excel across the board.This is a permanent position.About youThis is a complex and multifaceted role that will exercise your powers of communication, analysis, and leadership.
