What you will do

As the Senior Organisational Development Advisor you will initially be responsible for leading three pieces of work and then as these progress and/or approach completion you will pick up other initiatives from our work programme.  

These pieces of work are:

  • Leading the design and delivery of the induction programme for civilian (non uniformed) staff to ensure that they feel welcomed, valued and contribute to our success as quickly as possible;
  • Project managing a programme of work, and leading some work streams that better supports military personnel as they transition to civilian careers after service;
  • Running our annual internally provided workplace experience survey, turning data into insights for action for both leaders on the ground and to inform strategy.

What we need

A flexible and adaptable approach with the ability to quickly understand and influence within our unique and complex organisation. 

You will have:

  • Strong technical skills and deep, critical thinking;
  • The ability to think and act on the strategic big picture and focus on the details;
  • A customer centric approach;
  • Experience managing projects from start to finish, including evaluation;
  • Action oriented, autonomous and results focused skills.

In addition to being a strong team player, you are supportive and able to provide constructive feedback to ensure we collectively create the best outcomes.

 Ideally you will also have:

  • Facilitation/training experience;
  • 1:1 coaching experience.

The Organisational Development Programmes is a small team that leads the design and implementation of OD programmes to support the NZDF to achieve its strategic direction.  We are part of the OD Directorate which also includes our Career and Talent Management Team and Psychologists and is part of the People Capability Portfolio.

  • most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 10 years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.
