Senior Policy Advisor
Police National Headquarters
Salary Range: $92,940.00 – $161,115.00
Multiple Positions Available
Job Requisition ID 12252
Are you an experienced, enthusiastic problem solver looking to make a real difference?
Would you like the opportunity to shape and develop policy that aims to reduce harm to all New Zealanders?
Can you use your knowledge of the policy process and relationship management skills to influence and lead others across Police and our government partners?
If you are a policy professional and these questions spark your curiosity then we want to hear from you!
The New Zealand Police Policy and Partnerships Group provides advice on a wide range of policy issues, from vulnerable children, family harm, firearms, organised crime and money laundering, to drug policy, transport safety, national security, emergency management and terrorism.
The diversity of our business makes for a fascinating and challenging range of policy opportunities in the sectors we span. We provide strategically aligned policy advice whilst remaining firmly connected to operational demands and practice. The work environment is fast paced and dynamic and our work affects New Zealanders every day.
Our work is delivered by four permanent policy teams (National Security and International; Justice; Transport and Crime Prevention). We have also established a temporary Firearms Policy team to deliver an ambitious work programme following the 15 March Christchurch terror attacks.
We are recruiting for up to two Senior Policy Advisors to join the Group. Appointments will be to the Group, but one of the positions will initially be in the Crime Prevention team, with the possibility of future rotation to other teams. The Crime Prevention team’s work programme includes criminal justice system reform, drug policy, contributing to multi-agency work on preventing family harm and sexual violence, and addressing the harms associated with organised crime.
