Permanent RoleWellington CentralSalary Range $101,940 – $132,417About us:The Economic Development and Transitions (EDT) branch of MBIE is responsible for a range of Economic Development policy functions, including: Investment PolicyIndustry PolicyEnterprise Policy andJust Transition Partnerships The Investment Policy Team provides advice to Ministers on business investment to support economic development and has joint policy oversight for New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (investment) and New Zealand Growth Capital Partners.We play a leading role in supporting the right investment settings and markets to bring the right kind of investors and lenders together with successful New Zealand businesses looking for finance to grow further. Our work includes understanding changing capital markets and how to influence shifts in investment towards new or undercapitalised sectors or firms, to realise our goals of productivity, sustainability and inclusivity.We work together with a diverse range of stakeholders, both private and public, to lead and co-ordinate the broad Government investment work programme.About the role:The Senior Advisor helps enable Investment Policy’s three priorities: Investment Attraction,Improving SME Access to Finance andSupporting early-stage Capital Markets. We have two senior vacancies in our team, one permanent, and one covering parental leave for a one year fixed-term. Our work involves strategic and practical ideas and advice. Whether you are focusing on investment attraction, finance for SMEs, or early stage capital markets, the role will require good relationship management, heightened critical thinking, and ultimately making recommendations to Ministers that are both principled and practice.About you:You are likely to have experience in sometimes complex policy formulation and possibly also in investment policy and economics. Your well-practiced skill set and work style should work in harmony with our team.Desired: Broad ranging knowledge and ideally some experience in economics, finance and/or investment policy environmentsStrategic knowledge of developing policy advice for MinistersExperience with stakeholder engagement & managementAbility to think laterally and put forward a well-argued caseA good tertiary qualification About MBIE:The purpose of the MBIE is to Grow New Zealand for All.
