  • Seeking a Permanent Senior Policy Analyst for End of Life Choice Act


The result of the recent referendum means that the End of Life Choice Act will come into force in November 2021. The Ministry of Health is responsible for overseeing how the Act works in our health system and we are developing a work programme to implement it.


We are looking for an experienced Senior Policy Analyst to join our team to deliver high quality advice to the Government. As a member of the Community Wellbeing Policy Team you will contribute to the development of policy advice in a range of areas, and your initial focus will be on the implementation of the End of Life Choice Act.


You will have strong skills in relationship management, communication and problem-solving, and will be comfortable working at pace. You will demonstrate a strong understanding of how legislative and regulatory instruments can be applied to deliver better health outcomes and improving the lives of all New Zealanders, with a specific focus on Māori health outcomes.


As well as having experience of public policy and machinery of government you will bring a drive for results, achieved through initiative, thought leadership and collaboration. You will quickly assimilate new and complex information, applying your written and verbal communication skills and ability to work to tight timeframes.


As part of the Senior Policy Analyst cohort you will be comfortable mentoring and supporting analysts across the Directorate, sharing your knowledge and experience freely.


A relevant tertiary qualification or comparable experience and interest in health or social or economic policy are desirable.
