The International Environment team at the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) is looking for a smart, driven Senior / Policy Analyst to join them.

MPI’s International Policy Directorate leads international engagement on a range of international and bilateral issues of interest to New Zealand’s primary sector, for example trade, sustainability and economic growth, and establishes and represents New Zealand’s position in various forums. 

The International Environment team’s work spans international agricultural and forestry policy issues relating to climate change, biodiversity, tropical timber and sustainable development. The team contributes to, and participates in, a range of international environmental fora in order to protect and promote New Zealand views in relation to sustainable production, sustainable resource use and international environmental governance.

If you have excellent writing skills and are a self-starter that can identify effective solutions and be able to respond to requests that often appear unexpectedly with short time frames, then this is the role for you. You also need to excel in relationship management as you will be building a record of positive engagement within MPI and externally.
