What you will do

As the Senior Project Manager, you will be accountable for managing capability projects within tolerances (time/budget/quality/scope/risks and benefits). 

You will work closely with the Services to develop detailed business cases and manage the project including introduction into service. You will be a part of a pool of specialist shared project managers, and will be assigned projects early in the capability definition phase of the acquisition lifecycle. 

What we need

To be successful in this role you will be an experienced Senior Project Manager who has demonstrated experience and advocacy of business management techniques and tools.  You will be an excellent communicator with the ability to develop, foster and maintain relationships with the organisation and across external agencies.  

Additionally, you will need to have:

  • Proven experience in leading, managing and implementing small scale projects;
  • A sound knowledge of project management methodologies that are considered best practice;
  • A relevant tertiary qualification with extensive business related experience.

The purpose of the Capability Branch is to provide efficient and effective management of NZDF capability development and delivery as well as provide capability management oversight. All of these contribute significantly to the total NZDF capability lifecycle. The Capability Branch provides a single point of accountability for these elements and delivers outputs that enable the delivery of joint effects.  The Capability Branch fosters contemporary military specialist knowledge and future thinking, operates using project and financial management disciplines and provides programme and project quality assurance oversight across a diverse portfolio.
