The Ministry of Transport is the government’s system lead for transport. It’s an exciting time to join the Ministry and the variety of interesting issues we lead, shape, and influence may surprise you.
We provide policy advice and support to Ministers to improve the performance of New Zealand’s transport system and related Crown entities. We also manage the government’s investment into transport, provide advice on legislation and help represent New Zealand’s international interests in maritime and aviation affairs.
We need an experienced Senior Solicitor to join our highly skilled and close-knit team to work in partnership with teams across the Ministry to provide strategic, high quality legal advice. Ideally you’ll come with at least four years’ experience and be skilled in developing legislation, and have some good commercial/corporate experience.
You’ll have a law degree, the ability to hold a practising certificate and be able to engage with and influence others across a range of disciplines. Whilst not essential, it would be great if you have some government experience, but if not, you’ll be a person who easily picks things up along the way!
This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to grow your skill set and make a real contribution to New Zealand’s transport system.
It is sounds like you and if you are up for a challenge, we’d love to hear from you. For a confidential discussion about the role, you are welcome to contact Brendan Booth, Chief Legal Adviser on 027 574 4391 or email email@example.com for further information.
