What you will do

The Senior Technical Advisor, Network Enabled Army (NEA), is a lead adviser on the professional, technical or trades components for the effective through life management and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) for Network (digital command, etc.) technology and equipment fleets (and their related commodities and consumables) to enable the NZDF to meet its strategic and operational objectives.

You’ll provide proactive, responsive, cost effective, feasible policy and process solutions to meet the required NZDF policy, legislative, engineering, manufacturing, user and relevant other technical standards, to assure their fleets of equipment are fit for purpose and safe to use.

What we need

Your technical skills and expertise in engineering fundamentals including in electrical, electronics and/or optronics environments, including experience in the operation and repair of items in this field. You’ll have experience in managing and assuring equipment and commodities against relevant legislation and standards e.g. codes of practice and warranties.

You will bring skills in fleet management and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), ideally in technical/engineering support, preventative maintenance, supply chain management and safety assurance. 

Ideally you’ll have:

  • A working knowledge of military communications equipment including data and computer technologies;
  • An understanding of procurement and management of new equipment;
  • Experience in conducting technical investigations and writing technical reports.
  • You will need to be a confident communicator who is able to communicate technical information effectively and have strong analytical and problem solving skills, as well being able to manage and effect change. 

    In addition to the above, you’ll have a National Certification Level 5 tertiary diploma qualification in network engineering, electronics, telecommunications or significant equivalent experience in a related field, as well as a current Class 1 unrestricted driver’s licence and the ability to travel and/or work outside core hours where required.

    The Defence Equipment Management Organisation (DEMO) is responsible for providing proactive, responsive and effective strategic in-service equipment fleet management and full life-cycle integrated logistic support (ILS) advice to support delivery of the NZDF’s outputs. Our focus is on equipment and related commodities and consumables, and ensuring they are available at the right time and standard to enable the Army, Air Force and Navy to achieve the right effect.
