Description This is a full time permanent (civ) position

What you will do

The Senior Technical Analyst is accountable for the technical aspects of the use, support and implementation of Automated Identification Technology (AIT) across NZDF logistics. You will be dealing with a variety of AIT including linear barcodes, 2D barcodes and RFiD tags across 80,000+ inventory items.

A typical day could include:

• Designing, building and testing AIT technical components (including scanning equipment and barcode label printers) to enable the delivery of business benefits;
• Understanding and defining business problems and providing technical solutions;
• Identifying opportunities for development or improvement of current AIT solutions;
• Consulting with industry and other Defence Forces to ensure that NZDF systems are compatible and that NZDF makes the right AIT investment decisions; and
• Working collaboratively with the AIT Manager and other parties to deliver complete AIT solutions.

Please note: This position may require domestic travel 1-2 times a month.

What we need

To be successful in this role, you will need to be able to translate business requirements into technical specifications to build successful AIT based systems. You will also need to be able to translate technical information into accessible information (free of jargon) to engage effectively with stakeholders and manage relationships across the organisation. You will be inquisitive and be able to actively investigate issues and provide practical solutions.

You will also have:

• 5+ years of experience in the development and delivery of AIT systems, preferably in a logistics environment;
• 10+ years of logistics industry experience, ideally Defence related;
• 8+ years in information system development, management and/or operations, preferably in an agile software development environment; and
• Previous experience presenting information and, providing coaching and training to users.

The Logistics AIT Centre of Expertise is a business unit within Defence Logistics Command responsible for the delivery of business benefits to NZDF logistics, through the adoption and use of AIT. They work in close collaboration with business enhancement and app development units in the delivery, implementation and support of software applications, standards, processes and procedures that can increase the use, and therefore the business benefits of AIT and mobility.
