Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the Role
A three year fixed-term Technician/Senior Technician position has opened in the Immunology Team based at AHL Wallaceville. The position is to backfill the previous incumbent.
We are looking for a technician with some knowledge and/or experience in serology and PCR diagnostics. Experience working in a busy diagnostics laboratory would be preferable as well as a strong team ethic, ability to work under pressure and at times of uncertainty, excellent communication skills, proven time keeping and reliability.
The Animal Health Laboratory is the country’s main centre for diagnostic response to exotic veterinary disease and maintains and improves its preparedness for biosecurity emergencies.
The laboratory is accredited to ISO: 17025, is a registered Export Laboratory and is accredited to the Laboratory Approval Scheme (LAS).
Mōu – About You
The successful candidate will be expected to undertake work within PC2 and PC3+ containment, to assist in responses to exotic animal diseases when called upon to do so, expected to perform the tests within the immunology team following appropriate training. Quality assurance and control are big parts within this reference laboratory, and you will be expected to play your part in anything from temperature checks, calibrations of equipment and understanding the need for controls in diagnostic work. You will have an attention to detail and have excellent customer relationship management.

Salary range for this role is $56,000 to $66,000 depending on skills and experience
