The New Zealand Police Information and Communication Technology Service Centre are seeking to appoint a Service Desk Trainer based at the Royal New Zealand Police College, Wellington.


The Police ICT Service Centre is here to save Police Officers time, enhance their safety and contribute to making New Zealand a safer community. To prevent crime and crashes, Police require information delivered to the frontline that is reliable and able to be accessed anywhere, anytime. Making this happen is the daily work of our people in the ICT Service Centre. Alongside our operational colleagues and partners we create world leading solutions in mobile, computer aided dispatch, intelligence, networks and security.


We are looking for a person with excellent customer service skills and a passion to deliver world class service and training methods, a person who will share our vision for innovation, and being part of a positive work environment.


The Service Desk Trainer reports to the Manager Service Hub and works with the Team Leaders to assess training needs and design and deliver modular courses to upskill staff working 24/7 to meet ICT Customer Service Standards. It is expected that training content and delivery will be consistent with adult learning principles.


Skills & Experience. You will be able to demonstrate all of the following:

  • Service delivery
  • Develops and delivers training plans to ensure we are capable of supporting customers effectively
  • Regularly reviews training courses and all related learning programmes to ensure they remain fit-for-purpose within the fast-moving environment; incorporating adult learning principles
  • Works with support owners and project teams to understand training implications for upgrades, changes or introduction of new initiatives, especially related to technology


Team Leadership & Management:

  • Contributes to and works with management in order to achieve team goals
  • Promotes a supportive and constructive team environment
  • Encourages strong and effective channels of communication amongst colleagues
  • Works with team leaders to manage and improve internal service standards


Relationship Management:

  • Promotes a positive image and fosters good team spirit with other areas of the organisation
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with internal and external groups
  • Establishes and maintains information sharing relationships between external groups
