The Balmoral Beef Finishing Farm for Ngāi Tahu Farming is seeking a Shepherd General to join a dynamic operation 5 minutes from Culverden. This position will be working in a team with up-to-date technology, that is regularly maintained and stock handling facilities.

We are looking for someone who has the skillset and drives to take on responsibility and progress within our business. The role involves livestock and general farm maintenance duties. A willingness to learn and a positive attitude to work is a must.

We are looking for a talented and driven individual with:

  • A minimum of 2 years of shepherding experience.
  • Working dogs under good command, ideally 1-2.
  • Excellent animal husbandry skills.
  • Farm maintenance skills.
  • Knowledge of Ngāi Tahu tribal structures and an awareness of and affinity for the needs and aspirations of Ngāi Tahu whānui.
  • Familiarity with the Treaty of Waitangi and its application to the work of Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu.
  • An ability and willingness to learn and engage in te reo and tikanga Māori.
