Here at our Hastings site,  we have a number of permanent opportunities for Social Workers to join our Care and Protection team that work alongside community partners to bring about positive outcomes for our children, young people and their whānau.  A big part of your day will be working with children and young people ensuring their voices are heard.

 

 

What you will do? 

You will:

  • complete assessments, reports, referrals and formal Family Court documents
  • create plans
  • participate in Family Group Conferences
  • partner with other agencies, stakeholders and the community to get the best possible outcome.

 

Your ability to overcome barriers and skill to drive positive outcomes will put you in good stead for this challenging yet hugely rewarding role.

 

 

To be successful in this rewarding position, you will need:

  • exceptional listening skills (hear what the child or young person has to say)
  • proven ability to quickly build rapport with tamariki and rangatahi
  • a high degree of both verbal and written communication skills (you will need to write court reports)
  • a commitment to bi-cultural practice and a culturally responsive approach (a good understanding of Tikanga Māori advantageous.

 

 

As a Social Worker, you must have:

  • A qualification in social work recognised by the Social Work Registration Board (SWRB)
  • SWRB registration with a current APC or working towards gaining registration.
  • a full, clean, valid driver’s licence.
