ECY Social Worker

Permanent, Full Time, Wellington CBD

Are you an experienced Social Worker who is passionate about making a positive impact to the lives of teenagers with challenging and high risk behaviours?  

About this role
As an ECY Social Worker, you will have a limited caseload in order to provide intensive support to rangatahi who have resisted engagement with professionals in the past.  You will practice relationship-based social work to strengthen the protective factors surrounding young people and ensure their voice is heard.  Part of your day to day work would include working in collaboration with Iwi and Maori providers and NGO community agencies to complete assessments, create safety plans, make referrals, participate in family group conferences and work closely alongside young people, your team members and other professionals to meet the needs of rangatihi who have resisted engagement.

The successful applicant will:

  • Have the ability to think critically and foster a stance of enquiry
  • Work effectively as part of a strong, collaborative team, and work closely with community agencies
  • Be open to trying, and learning from, new ways of working
  • Be able to demonstrate strength-based practice in working with whanau that upholds 7aa
  • Be resilient and able to manage crises constructively.

All applicants will need to have:

  • A social work qualification that is recognised by New Zealand’s Social Work Registration Board (SWRB)
  • Full registration with the SWRB or the ability to register
  • Cultural awareness and understanding
  • Flexibility to work an after-hours duty roster
  • A full, clean and valid New Zealand driver’s licence.
