About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Solicitor and two experienced and driven Senior Solicitors who want to join our team to make an impact and are ready to hit the ground running.
Our key focus areas for the MfE legal team in 2020 are supporting legislative and regulatory reform across resource management, fresh water, climate change and resource efficiency. We also play an important role in supporting MfE to comply with obligations and duties across a range of legislation and in supporting MfE’s involvement in litigation matters.
As a Solicitor, you will provide legal advice across the focus areas and the Ministry’s broader work programmes as well as providing advice on statutory and corporate functions and contract matters. You will be capable of delivering advice in a range of formats to a range of clients, including internal leaders and Ministers.
As a Senior Solicitor you will demonstrate leadership within the team and the broader organisation on legal matters. You will deliver advice in a range of formats to a range of clients, including internal leaders and Ministers. You will support the growth and development of legal team members and other Ministry staff.
What you bring
To be successful in the role you will need:
Specific knowledge and expertise in public law, environmental law or commercial law is desirable. Knowledge of Treaty of Waitangi law and tikanga Māori would also be desirable.

Senior Solicitor $100,645 to $130,247
Appointment within these ranges will be based on skills and experience.
