What you will do
The purpose of this position is to provide day-to-day logistical support to the Youth Development Unit (YDU) by way of effective and efficient provision of stores and equipment, the maintenance and safe custody of equipment through good warehousing practices. This role is also responsible for the management of the Youth Development Unit vehicles.
What we need
Experience and background in stores and logistics, with a current New Zealand Class 1 Drivers Licence and the ability to obtain; a New Zealand Drivers licence Class 2, ‘D’ and ‘F’ endorsement for a New Zealand driver’s licence, NZDF driving permit and an OSH Certificate for a forklift.
You’ll have experience in the use of corporate ERP systems (i.e. SAP) to manage stores and have excellent customer service skills. You’ll have experience in the management, maintenance and repair of equipment, as well as general administration.
You’ll need to be able to work outside of normal working hours on occasion and have the ability to be away from home for short periods as required.
Who we are
The Youth Development Unit (YDU) is responsible for providing support to the community through the provision of training to selected elements of New Zealand’s youth, these being Limited Services Volunteer (LSV), and Youth Life Skills (YLS) schemes.
YDU is a New Zealand Defence Force Unit with staff from Navy, Army, Air Force, and Defence Civilians. It is based in three locations, Burnham,Trentham and Auckland with its HQ also at Burnham Camp.
The YDU works with young people aged 12 – 24 years who are not enlisted into the NZDF. The unit conducts several different programmes all designed to enable young people to progress into job placement, trade training, further education and re-engagement in local communities.
